Encourage all ages to Grow in Faith

The Spirit gives us the gift of faith, and our faith deepens when we share by coming together to listen for what Scripture tells us about God and ourselves.

We focus on Spiritual Nurture at Matthews Presbyterian Church, where acknowledging our growth in Christ means more than simply learning facts, but also our emotional, social, and spiritual development as we practice our faith in classes, discussion groups, and special programs for adults, youth, and children.

Adults

Sunday mornings

At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, Matthews Presbyterian Church offers an adult Sunday School class. The class meets in Room 206 of the CWC building and discusses a variety of topics including lectionary-based lessons and exploring different books of the Bible.

Bible Study

The Pastor’s Study is led by Pastor Luke on Wednesday Evening at 6:30pm.

Book Club

The MPC Book Club is an intergenerational group who gathers once a month to discuss their latest book. They read everything from young adult, to biographies, to non-fiction, to the classics.

Presbyterian Women

The Presbyterian Women is an opportunity for all women of our church to be in relationship together.  There are two circles, Circle #1 and Share Our Spirit.  Circle #1 meets on the first Monday of the month at 2 pm in Room 206. Share Our Spirit Circle meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Library.   Ladies of all ages are welcome to participate.  Contact the church office for more information.

Men of the church

The MPC Men of the Church is open to all men.  Together, they build relationships and grow in their faith.  They meet on the second Saturday of the month in the Friendship Court for fellowship, discussion, planning, and a light breakfast.  Throughout the winter months, they coordinate our Room in the Inn ministry for Charlotte's homeless neighbors.  The Men of the Church also host a chili cookoff in February and a Golf Tournament, with the Presbyterian Women, in the Spring.  Contact the church office for more information.

Youth

MPC Youth

The youth group at Matthews Presbyterian Church consists of middle school (grades 6 through 8) and high school students (grades 9 through 12). We have a very active program for our young people that involves Bible study, worship, education, fellowship, games, and music.

Regularly scheduled youth activities begin in late August and go through mid-May, before breaking for summer activities. During the school year you will find us having weekly Bible study for middle school and high school groups, fellowship on Sunday nights, service projects, and game nights. We seek to provide an environment for the youth to come and be themselves, learn about God and how God works in their lives today, and to fellowship with other Christian friends.

Sunday MOrnings

Sunday School Classes are offered during the Sunday School Hour from 9:30am - 10:15am.    Classes are offered for children ages 4 years to 5th Grade.  Using the Deep Blue Sunday School curriculum, children learn about their faith in a way that is real and applicable to their own lives, stories and the world.

Wednesday afternoons

AMP (Activities at Matthews Presbyterian) is a wonderful mid-week opportunity for young people ages 4 years old through 5th grade to get together with their church friends and foster relationships in a community of faith.  During AMP, we enjoy stories, games, crafts, and music.  AMP is on Wednesdays from 5:00–6:00 pm.  A community supper follows from 6:00–6:30 pm in the Friendship Court.

Noah's Chapel

Immediately following the Children's Message during the Worship Service, we offer Noah's Chapel for children ages 3 years old (must be potty-trained) through 2nd grade.  During Noah's Chapel, children will gather with two adult leaders in Room 105 for a Bible story, fun crafts, and free play time.
