Mary Neil Alexander Scholarship Information

Scholarship Application Packets will be available for the Mary Neil Alexander Scholarship Fund (MNASF) of Matthews Presbyterian Church in the early Spring each year. To apply for a scholarship, applicants must be members of Matthews Presbyterian Church seeking a post-secondary education. Scholarships are available for high school seniors going to college, college students continuing their undergraduate studies, graduating college seniors going on to graduate school, or church members returning to college or graduate school. You may only receive a total of four annual awards.
Criteria for determining the recipients of scholarships are 1) Active Membership in Matthews Presbyterian Church 2) Moral Character 3) Demonstrated Academic Achievement 4) Submission of the application and all supporting materials and 5) Financial Need. The amount of each scholarship may vary annually and is determined by the available income to be distributed, the number of applicants meeting all criteria including overall financial need. Scholarship awards are paid directly to the appropriate educational institution for each recipient and are designated for official academic expenses that each institution includes in its tuition billing.
Mary Neil Alexander was a long- time member of Matthews Presbyterian Church and an educator. A generous donation was made and designated for post-secondary scholarships as a memorial to her. The membership of Matthews Presbyterian Church, as well as the scholarship beneficiaries through the years, deeply appreciates this expression of interest in the pursuit of higher education by members of MPC.
When they are available, please pick up your application packet in the church office or download it using the link below.  Applicants should submit their applications and supporting materials to the MNASF Committee, c/o Matthews Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 97, Matthews, NC 28106. The application with supporting materials may also be turned into the church office.
